Forgiveness is not gained or to be done anyhow or unconditionally. Before God forgives you, you must humble yourself and confess your sins and then ask for forgiveness. God by then will not fail to forgive you. By then it shows your submissiveness and subjection to God. Also another condition for God to forgive you is that you must forgive others their sins without which God cannot forgive you even if you ask.
God normally takes time to show us our sins hence preaching by the prophets. When someone sins against you, humble yourself like God and show that person his sins. If he repents, forgive him. If he sins again and again he says, he repents still forgive him. If he sins 490 times in a day and says all those time that he repents, forgive him. But if you humble yourself and show the person his sins and he refuses to repent, don’t forgive him. Rather, take two or three witnesses with you and show him his sins. If he repents by then, forgive him but if he refuses to repent don’t forgive him. Rather tell it to the church. If he repents, forgive him. If he does not repent, don’t forgive him. At that time, treat him as an infidel or a heathen and have nothing to do with him. In the place of a church, the family or village can substitute. Without this terms don’t forgive. And without this term you cannot be forgiven.
As for God, He is holy, He cannot sin. All men however are sinners and deserves forgiveness and also to forgive others. When you sin against someone, confess your sins to him. If someone sins against you, let him confess his sins to you. If you have not sin against a person, don’t confess your sins to him. Rather confess it to the person you have sinned against. Don’t go to a priest to confess your sins, unless you sinned against him. The priest too has his sins to confess. In all it is better to confess to one person than to two or three or the whole church or village.
Be wise.
